We’ve been loyal Capital Buick customers for years. We bought our truck there and always enjoyed the sales experience. Up until now, we’ve also done all of our servicing there, but that ends today.
When Capital called my husband to book our winter tire change (our tires are stored there), we were both on the call since it was on speakerphone. During that call, we were told that if I wanted to wait while the work was done, we should book early, and the suggested time was 9 AM. So that’s what we did.
When I arrived, the service advisor, Loni, told me the truck would be there for the entire day and that they would Uber me home. I explained that wasn’t possible since my other vehicle was parked elsewhere due to my husband being away, and reminded her that we had been told I could wait. Her response was, “It’s tire season you should have booked for 7 or 8 AM,” which was never mentioned when the appointment was made. I tried to explain what was said on the booking and I was met with an argument and attitude.
After my husband texted confirming what we were told during the booking, the story suddenly changed, and I was then told I could wait after all. From there, her attitude became dismissive and condescending. After what I thought we had worded out the issue she then made a snarky remark about how she would just keep the kids home from school, not even sure where that came from because I said nothing about my kids. I asked her why she was so condescending.
To make matters worse, what was described as a “free alignment” turned out to be only a free alignment check. Without calling to confirm, they performed a $200 alignment anyway. Between that, the tire change, and storage fees, our total came to over $500 a complete surprise.
When I went back to pick up the truck and pay the bill, the total was slightly less because we chose to remove the higher-priced tire storage option. By that point, my husband and I had already decided we would not be returning.
Loni said, “I hear there’s been a miscommunication about the alignment.” I told her I had already made a complaint to the manager. She replied, “That’s fine.” I explained that when we booked, we were told it was a free alignment for customers, and that neither my husband nor I recall anyone saying “alignment check.” Regardless, the alignment was done without calling us first. Even if there was a misunderstanding, I still believe they should have confirmed with us before proceeding once the "free" part was done.
I told her this was the reason we wouldn’t be back. Her answer was simply, “OK, that’s fine,” while standing there with a big fake smile, tilting her head back and forth and blinking exaggeratedly. The gesture was clearly sarcastic and unprofessional. I asked why she felt the need to act like she was better than everyone else, and she replied, “How would you like me to act?” I told her to just look at how she was behaving and added that I was certain there were already Google reviews mentioning her attitude, because you can’t treat customers that way.
At that point, I just wanted to pay my bill and leave. She continued to talk at me and argue about the situation until another woman in the service department kindly stepped in and said I could come over and pay with her instead. I finished the transaction there, and she told me someone from the service department would be in touch.
After years of loyalty, this was incredibly disappointing. The way this situation was handled, from miscommunication to unprofessional behavior, was completely unacceptable. We will be taking our tires home and servicing our vehicle elsewhere from now on
